Treat inflamed, acne-prone skin with these proven medical aesthetics treatments.
Clarifying & Calming
Simple yet effective treatment for the acne-prone skin.
An oral antibiotic-free treatment that delivers the combined effects of BBL™ and exfoliants to control sebum and reduce inflammation.
For clearer skin, 6 sessions are recommended.
Aesthéa’s Acne-Away is an intensive, oral-antibiotic-free, pain-free, 20-minutes-session treatment, spread over 6 weeks for optimum treatment. Each session starts with an anti-acne peel to remove those clogged-up dead skin and sebum on the skin surface; then we use the Sciton™ Forever Clear BBL™ to initiate the destruction of P. acne; and finished off with topical antibiotics on the skin.
Forever Clear BBL™ visible light takes advantage of the photosensitivity of porphyrins. The porphyrins are chemicals produced by the P. acnes – the blue light emitted by BBL will cause photo excitation of these P. acnes porphyrins.
Blue light at the wavelength of 420 nm is capable of the greatest absorption that specifically targets bacteria; whereas red light at 590 nm produces a deeper penetration into the skin to target inflammation.
Considering that P. acnes are rarely present without concomitant inflammation, the treatment combination of blue and red light has demonstrated considerable success in treating mild to severe inflammatory acne.
This signature treatment is oral-antibiotics-free, for most cases.
The exception is for very severe cases, where the doctor feels that the benefit of oral antibiotics would outweigh that of none. This is when oral antibiotics would synergise with the effects of Forever Clear BBL™, topical antibiotics and topical retinoids.
There is no downtime for the Acne-Away treatment with Forever Clear BBL™.
Patients should understand that, to see optimal results with Forever Clear BBL™ acne treatments, a minimum of 1 – 2 treatments every week for a minimum of 6 treatments are recommended.
In most cases, improvement can be seen after 3-4 sessions – breakouts would have reduced and redness would have faded.
Many patients, if they choose to, continue with the same treatment as monthly treatment and find that the acne breakouts are considerably less.
Who is suitable?
The Acne-Away treatment is suitable for those who have experienced treatment failure from conventional acne regimens such as facials, monotherapy with antibiotics only or combinations of other treatments.
It is indicated particularly for those with:
• Recurring, stubborn cystic acne;
• Post-acne redness; and,
• Post-acne inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Maintained treatment also improves the appearance of moderately severe acne scars due to improved skin gene expression to produce collagen more appropriately.
Speak to our doctor for a more detailed consult as the suitability for treatment may vary from patient to patient and with different combinations of treatment.
A collaborative effort with Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula, TDF™. Treat acne-prone skin using TDF’s formulae of fruit derived α-hydroxy acid exfoliants and home-care products.
Chemical peels produce controlled depth peeling of the skin, the end result of which would promote growth of new skin and improved appearance.
Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula’s fruit derived α-hydroxy acid exfoliant is a superficial chemical peel that gently loosens the cohesion between dying cells and other cellular debris that could be blocking healthy pores beneath them.
A set of carefully selected Therapeutic Dermatologic Formula (TDF™) home care products ensure that your skin is well-taken care.
There is minimal downtime from this treatment, if at all, 2-3 days of mild peeling of the skin.
Generally, chemical peels are done once every 2-4 weeks, until the desired results are achieved. Maintenance peels can then be performed once a month.
If you have specific requests for treatment of pigmented spots on the skin, discuss this with the doctor so that he could further refine his customised treatment for you.
Who is suitable?
The chemical peels used at Aesthéa are designed for all skin types.
However, the treatment, however, may be unsuitable in the following situations:
• Recent sunburn, prolonged sun-exposure, or recent strong chemical peel of the skin – patients may wish to defer their treatment session for 4-6 weeks.
• On-going treatment with Isotretinoin or any retinoids, patients may wish to defer their treatment session for 6-8 weeks.
• On-going eczema or skin sensitivity – patients may wish to defer their treatment until after the eczema and skin sensitivity are treated.
